St. Lucia

Justin and I just got back from St. Lucia, where we spent a week celebrating our tenth wedding anniversary.  Our good friends Sarah and Alan joined us, which made the whole trip even more fun. We're normally pretty adventurous travelers, but we splurged this time and stayed at a small all-inclusive resort.  It was absolutely incredible.

We started out almost every day with an early morning dive.  We saw tons of coral, fish, eels, lobsters, and even a couple stingray.  It was a pretty great way to start the day.

After that, we would spend a couple hours reading and napping in a sun bed by the lazy river.

After lunch, we would switch to one of the main pools for some sun and cocktails.  We also took advantage of all of the included water sports: waterskiing, kayaking, even sailing.

And then we would migrate to the beach and would eventually end up watching the sunset from the ocean.

We would then get dressed and enjoy a nice dinner.

Finally, we would enjoy the nightlife for a little bit before heading to bed.

As if that weren't enough, we did a couple of other really cool things while we were there.  The first was a private dinner on the beach.  I think it was the first time anyone had ever requested a romantic dinner for four, but hey, it was included in our package, so why not?

The second (and my favorite) was a dive trip at the south end of the island, in a marine park at the base of the pitons.  Not only was the diving incredible, the backdrop was breathtaking.  And, by pure luck, we were the only four diving from our resort so it was just us once we got in the water.

The third was a fishing trip.  Again, by pure luck, it was practically a private trip as we were four of the five people who signed up.  The fishing wasn't great (Alan caught one tiny fish and the rest of us got skunked), and we got rained on most of the time, but we still had a good time.

The best part of the trip, though, was just being together, relaxing, and having fun for an entire week.
