Nesting, Part II

Justin and I finally finished his office.  We started it along with the rest of the remodel two years ago, but put it on hold due to lack of time and money.  It sat empty and gutted for about a year until we did a lot of work on it last summer.  Now with the baby coming, we needed to move his office out of the house to make room for the nursery.

Justin's office is the original carriage house.  It was in pretty rough shape to start with, but it turned out to be one of my favorite parts of the house.  It is a completely separate structure from the rest of the house and is about the most functional 200 square feet I have ever seen.

In the office, we:

• Gutted everything down to the studs and concrete
• Brought plumbing over from the house and installed a bathroom and wet bar
• Replaced the rotten garage door with a wall while still retaining the garage door on the outside
• New wiring
• New windows and doors
• Basically new everything

The best part of the office is that it doubles as a guest house.  The couch is actually a queen size sleeper sofa, so now we essentially have two guest rooms.  I'm sure that will come in handy in about a month when we start getting more visitors!
