2 months old

Edison turned two months old on Saturday.  He also had his two-month appointment with the pediatrician this afternoon.  He already weighs 12 lbs 8 oz (70th percentile) and is 24.5 inches long (95th percentile).

You may have noticed that Edison's left eye doesn't seem to open all the way.  He has a congenital birth defect called ptosis, which is when the muscle in the eyelid did not fully develop.  His pediatrician is hopeful that it will resolve itself and thinks it has already improved some.  She's going to keep watching it, though, and we will be referred to an ophthalmologist if it looks like it's impacting his vision.  In the meantime, he's our cute little Popeye.

We have been taking pictures every month with the same teddy bear to mark his growth.  Those are stickers, by the way.  I'm not so crazy as to buy special onesies for him to only wear once.

Developmentally, he is smiling a lot and cooing.  He found his tongue yesterday and sticks it in and out all the time.  He also started batting at the toys on his activity mat.  It's so much fun watching him grow up.
